Send Push

After a video surfaced online showing Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee seemingly endorsing the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the actor promptly issued a clarification. He stated that the viral clip was a ‘fake, patched-up edit’ of an old advertisement he had done for Amazon Prime Video India.

Bajpayee further urged his followers not to believe or circulate the misleading video, emphasising that he has no political affiliations and that the doctored clip was a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation.

Manoj Bajpayee wrote on X, “I would like to publicly state that I have no association or allegiance with any political party. The video being circulated is a fake, patched-up edit of an ad I did for @PrimeVideoIN. I sincerely appeal to everyone sharing it to stop spreading such distorted content and urge people not to engage with or encourage such misleading content.”

The Reactions To Manoj Bajpayee’s Statement

Along with users, leaders of the opposition also targeted RJD for using this video.

The National Spokesperson for BJP, Pradeep Bhandari wrote on X: “Shame on RJD ecosystem for circulating fake video of Actor Manoj Bajpayee for its campaign in Bihar! ‘Rashtriya Jhoota Dal’ knows it is losing Bihar, this is why it is using fake, edited videos in its campaign! Fake News, & Corruption, JungleRaj unites Congress and RJD!”

Congress’ spokesperson Surendra Rajput told IANS, “An artist like Manoj Bajpayee should not make such remarks. If the video is suspicious, he should file an FIR. When it comes to pubic life, artist like him should not make such statements publicly and enter disputes. If he wants to enter politics, he is welcome to do so openly. But if not, it would be better for him to address his concerns through legal mean.”

One user commented, “In today's digital age, deepfakes and deceptive editing are a genuine threat to every public figure's reputation. Relying on such manipulated content to assign party allegiance undermines the very foundation of informed political discourse. We must be better than that.”

On the work front, Manoj Bajpayee was last seen in Netflix’s Inspector Zende.

He is currently gearing up for RGV’s horror movie Police Station Mein Bhoot.
