In an industry where image and influence often dictate survival, going against a powerful name can come at a steep price. Over the years, several actors have spoken about the struggles they faced after falling out with influential figures. One such case is that of Vivek Oberoi, who in the early 2000s was considered one of Bollywood’s most promising talents but soon found his career derailed after a public confrontation with Salman Khan.

Early Rise and Sudden Fall
Vivek Oberoi rose to fame with films like Company (2002) and Saathiya (2002), earning praise as the next big star of Hindi cinema. But his fortunes changed in 2003 when he held a press conference accusing Salman Khan of threatening him at a time when Oberoi was reportedly in a relationship with Aishwarya Rai. The incident created headlines across the nation and quickly became a turning point in his life.

Speaking to content creator Prakhar Gupta in a recent interview, Oberoi recalled the professional backlash that followed. He said filmmakers began to drop him from projects he had already signed, and he found himself boycotted across the industry. According to him, almost no one was willing to work with him at that time.

The situation went beyond professional loss. Oberoi revealed that his family members, including his parents and sister, received threatening calls during the controversy. While he has learned to move on, he admitted that watching his mother cry and his father worry was far more difficult to process than his own setbacks.

Personal Struggles and Mental Health
The actor also shared that the turmoil took a toll on his personal life, pushing him into depression. He turned to his mother for support and often asked why he was being singled out. She reminded him that during his peak he never questioned why success came his way, which helped him slowly gain perspective.

Moving Beyond the Controversy

Despite the challenges, Oberoi continued to act in films such as Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), Prince (2010), and Krrish 3 (2013). However, the momentum of his early career never returned. Over time, he shifted focus beyond acting, building a successful real estate business.

According to Dubai Property Insider, Oberoi has built a real estate empire worth over ₹1,200 crore. His decision to move to Dubai during the COVID-19 pandemic turned out to be a defining moment. What began as a temporary relocation became a long-term choice after his family unanimously decided to stay.

Oberoi explained that Dubai’s proximity to India allows him to maintain strong ties with home while enjoying the lifestyle and opportunities the city offers. He shared that the move gave him a sense of security and stability that was missing during his turbulent years in Bollywood. With Dubai emerging as a global business hub, he was able to expand his ventures rapidly, tapping into real estate development and investment opportunities.

Two decades later, Oberoi views that turbulent phase with more composure. He admitted that while he once struggled with bitterness, he now focuses on moving forward. Reflecting on the past, he said the hardest memories remain those involving his family’s distress, but he has learned to let go of the negativity attached to those years.
