Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): An ASHA worker attempted to take her own life while seeking justice at Dhamnod police station on Sunday. ASHA worker, identified as Maya Purohit of Indira Nagar struck her head with an object she found in the police station, resulting in serious injuries. She was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Maya alleged that she was assaulted by former BJP councillor Raviraj Verma and his family following a dispute over noise from a bullet bike.
Following the incident, Raviraj reportedly gathered his supporters and publicly defamed Maya and her daughter with false accusations. Despite her attempts to file a complaint at Dhamnod police station, station in-charge Santosh Dudhi ignored her pleas.
In her quest for justice, Maya also appealed to the SDOP of Dhar and Dhamnod, but received no response. On Sunday, feeling hopeless, she went to the police station and tearfully asked for help.
When her cries went unanswered, she resorted to self-harm. The police eventually took her to Dhamnod Hospital, where she received first aid before being referred to Dhar District Hospital for further treatment. As of now, no case has been registered against the accused.
