Beed (Maharashtra): Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil narrowly avoided a major mishap after the lift he was travelling in suddenly plunged from the first floor to the ground floor at Shivaji Rao Critical Care Hospital in Beed. The incident occurred around 1.30 pm on Sunday, August 3, while Patil was on a visit to meet a patient admitted at the hospital.

CCTV Shows Exact Moments Of Fall

CCTV footage of the incident, now circulating widely on social media, shows Patil entering the lift along with a group of 10-12 supporters. Moments after the lift doors close, it suddenly descends rapidly to the ground floor, prompting panic among those inside. The video also captures the group shouting for help, visibly shaken by the sudden fall.

No Injuries Reported

According to reports, a person present on the ground floor immediately rushed to assist, managing to force open the lift doors and safely evacuate Patil and his team. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

Speaking to the media after the mishap, Patil confirmed that he had gone to visit a patient and had used the lift to reach the designated ward. “As soon as the lift began moving, it suddenly dropped down. It was a terrifying experience, but thankfully, everyone is safe,” he reportedly stated.

The incident has raised serious questions about the hospital's infrastructure and safety protocols. Many have expressed concern over the apparent lack of maintenance and monitoring of critical systems like elevators, especially in medical institutions.

In response, the hospital administration has announced that an internal probe has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the malfunction. While the reason for the fall is yet to be established, preliminary discussions have hinted at either a technical fault or potential overloading.
