McDonald's August bank holiday 2025 opening times - see when restaurants open

Fast food fans may be wondering if McDonald’s will be open as normal this August bank holiday.

The bank holiday falls on Monday, August 25 which means many businesses will decide to shut up shop for the day so their staff can enjoy a rest.

But if you're in the mood for a Big Mac, then you'll be pleased to know that the majority of McDonald's restaurants should be open as normal this weekend.

McDonald’s has more than 1,400 branches in the UK and Ireland, of which around 80% of these are franchised - this means opening hours do vary.

You should check opening times of your local branch by using its restaurant locator tool before you make the journey, just to avoid any disappointment.

You may find the odd branch does decide to close or shorten its opening hours this Monday. But to give you a rough idea of when Maccies is typically open we checked opening times in several different UK towns.

For example, the McDonald's in Leicester Square, London, is open from 5am until 2.45am every day, including bank holiday Monday.

McDonald's in Liverpool Lord Street and Cardiff Newport Road are both open 24 hours including bank holiday Monday, while its Manchester Piccadilly Gardens branch welcomes customers from 6am until midnight.

It comes after McDonald’s added its iconic Big Arch burger to UK menus for the first time. The burger, which has been on sale before in Canada, Portugal and Germany, is made with two British and Irish beef patties, topped with white cheddar cheese slices, crispy onions, fresh onions, shredded lettuce, crunchy pickles, and smothered in signature Big Arch sauce.

It is priced at £7.99 for a single burger, or £9.99 for a medium meal with a side and drink. There is also the brand new Jaffa Cakes McFlurry which consists of soft dairy ice cream swirled with chocolate covered shortcake pieces, topped with orange sauce.

Spicy Chicken McNuggets are also back on the menu, alongside the the Fajita Chicken One wrap, Chilli Cheese Bites and Milky Way McFlurry.

The Fajita Chicken One is made of creamy fajita sauce, tomato salsa, onions, cheese and lettuce in a soft, toasted tortilla wrap with a choice of crispy or grilled chicken.

Chilli Cheese Bites are served in crispy batter with a spicy chilli dip and the Milky Way McFlurry consists of milk chocolate stars and malt flavoured pieces topped with a chocolate sauce.
