The duo met when they were cast in a production of The Sound of Music at Bournemouth's Pavilion Theatre in 1993 and ended up saying "I do" two years later. However, things were not to last. Les recalled: "...I tell this story in my book that when Mike became my manager in 1973 and Lynn and I were about to get married - my first wife, Lynn - we were excited that Mike had become my manager."
He continued: "She said, 'let's drive past his house' because he lived on Queens Drive in Liverpool (...) we passed, and the curtains were open, and I went, 'look, there he is', and we saw Mike Hughes picking up a little child and swinging the child around."

In a surprising twist, Les revealed that his ex-wife Lynn later pointed out the astonishing connection between that moment and his future relationships. She noted that if they had known then that their marriage would end, and Les would go on to marry a younger woman, Amanda, who would eventually marry the very child they saw being swung around by Mike Hughes - his son Chris.
Amanda married Chris Hughes on December 10, 2008, at St Margaret's Church in Somerset, followed by a lavish reception at Babington House. The couple have two daughters, Alexa and Hollie, but tragically in February 2011, Amanda lost their baby son Theo who was stillborn seven months into her pregnancy.
Thankfully, Les also got his happy ending with third wife Claire Nicholson. The couple started dating in 2005 and got married three years later. They have two children together, Eleanor, 15, and son Thomas, 12.
