Carlos Alcaraz won't pull out of the US Open mixed doubles, despite the tight turnaround following his Cincinnati Open victory. The Spaniard is due to link up with Emma Raducanu at Flushing Meadows, with the two-day mixed doubles tournament scheduled to be played today (Tuesday) and tomorrow.

Alcaraz went head-to-head with Jannik Sinner in the Cincinnati Open final on Monday as he eyed up his first title at the ATP Masters 1000 event. And he was declared the winner after just 23 minutes of action as Sinner was forced to retire through illness. Alcaraz had won 21 out of 29 points and was leading 5-0 at the time of his opponent's withdrawal, with the Italian failing to come anywhere close to his usual standards.

"The scheduling is not the best to be honest, playing tomorrow," Alcaraz admitted after triumphing in Cincinnati. "But the concept of the tournament and the mixed doubles, I just loved it.

"It's going to be new for me, which I love. I'm going to have so much fun playing there, playing with Emma. It's going to be tough against [Jack] Draper and [Jessica] Pegula [in the opening round]. But I will try to enjoy it as much as I can.

"I will try to see how the court will be, the balls, everything. I will treat it as a really important and good preparation for me.

"I will try to be at my best tomorrow after the trip to New York and I'm probably going to sleep late. But I will try to put my best tennis to help Emma get the win. And let's see if we will get it, but I think it's going to be fun and great to have those matches."

The US Open mixed doubles has been brought forward and condensed into a two-day tournament this year to attract the biggest stars of the singles game.

Elsewhere in the draw, Novak Djokovic will play alongside Olga Danilovic, while Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek will partner Casper Ruud.

And legendary American tennis star Venus Williams will also be involved as she will feature alongside compatriot Reilly Opelka.

Meanwhile, Sinner, who had been due to partner Katerina Siniakova, may not be able to play following his illness in Cincinnati.

"I'm super sorry to disappoint you," he said on Monday. "From yesterday I didn't feel great, I thought I would improve but it came up worse. I tried to come out, to make it at least a small match, but I couldn't handle more."

He later explained: "Now I will take a couple of days to recover, then I will get back to work, hoping to be ready. The US Open [singles] is my main goal in the United States."
