BBC's Adam Frost was slammed by audiences at home during the latest episode of Gardeners' World. Viewers who watched Thursday's episode (22 August) were less than impressed when the British garden designer began to use an electric hedge trimmer to reorganise his garden and get rid of any real pernicious weeds. However, BBC fans were not happy with him using the electric tool and furiously reacted on social media. One person said on X: "Let's hope the animals are not dozing in the meadow when Adam ploughs through with his lethal, stinking man toy. #GardenersWorld."
A second also commented: "...and they didn't even check for hedgehogs first before plunging straight in, to cut back habitat. Shame on you #GardenersWorld. Hedgehogs won't run away from noisy garden machines...just curl up in a ball. You missed a perfect opportunity to share this message." A third also typed: "Exactly! Shame on #GardenersWorld."
A fourth also echoed: "Over the years #GardenersWorld has been good at banging the drum for #peatfree compost, reducing #plastic use and tackling the difficulties #ClimateChange will bring. I hope one day they'll do the same against noisy, polluting two stroke petrol engine garden tools."
Elsewhere in the episode, a retired GP showed Frances Tophill around his stunning garden in West Yorkshire. At Long Barn Gardens in Kent, Advolly Richmond retraced the footsteps of renowned garden designer and writer Vita Sackville-West.
There was also a chef turned gardener who loved nothing more than growing a tasty array of vegetables, and there was an inspiring visit to Suffolk, where a man has spent the last 14 years creating the garden of his dreams.
A fortnight ago on Gardeners' World, fans were left in tears after hearing the story of Steve, a professional inventor who lives with his wife, Pippa.
Their story is particularly fascinating as they have a windmill in their garden. Whilst their story was deeply interesting about restoring the windmill back to its original condition, it quickly took a sad turn. S
teve then told audiences at home that he's recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and he doesn't know how long he's got left to live. He said it could be "two months or two years, possibly". However, his positive mindset has persevered, and he saw his cancer as a "new challenge".
BBC viewers couldn't help but react to the emotional story. One person said on X: "Stunning cottage-type garden with Windmill a bonus and unique. Typical Cancer comes along for the bloke who still wants to finish the Windmill. Let's hope he can do it and beats the disease as he dearly loves his wife. #GardenersWorld." Another said, "Inventor man, what an inspiration # Gardenersworld."
