Good Morning Britain had a disappointing update for viewers on Thursday, ahead of Monday's Bank Holiday. Chief correspondent Richard Gaisford warned of "serious issues on the horizon" as he reported on travel disruption expected across the country on the weekend.

Many Brits will be looking for a change of scenery on the August Bank Holiday weekend, but traffic tailbacks and rail strikes are expected to cause mayhem for travellers. The disruption could be so severe on some parts of the rail network that people are being advised not to travel at all. Speaking live from King's Cross Station in London, the GMB star warned: "If you are waking up this morning thinking that you are going away this Bank Holiday but haven't made the plans yet, then now is the time to start paying attention. There are some quite serious issues on the horizon, certainly for people using the rail and car networks."
