A familiar Scottish voice will commentate on the this week. The action is broadcast live on BBC, Eurosport, and TNT Sports, and the tournament has already started dramatically following .

Fans are now accustomed to the regular expert pundits. The likes of Stephen Hendry, Steve Davis, and Ken Doherty are again integral to the BBC's coverage, offering insight and expert analysis. However, this Wednesday, there will be an alternative option for TNT viewers, with football icon Ally McCoist due to call the action.

McCoist, 62, has already cemented his reputation as a popular football pundit. The talkSPORT presenter regularly commentates for TNT Sports and Amazon Prime, working primarily on the and European action.

McCoist will be back on TNT with the network's main football commentator Darren Fletcher. The pair will be calling the action at the Crucible, although won't be taking part in the main coverage.

Instead, the duo will provide an alternative, and arguably more humorous, option for viewers. It will be available on the TNT channel and the Discovery Plus app.

McCoist talked up his new role on The Sports Breakfast last week. He joked that fans will be "treated to something different" and added he had no idea how the plan would pan out.

Alternative commentary options have become a familiar notion in recent times. During the 2025 , former British Lions Ryan Jones and Rob Henderson on the Wales vs Ireland clash. The pair were working on behalf of Vodafone, with Henderson saying afterwards he "thoroughly enjoyed" the experience.
