Legendary athlete Asad Qasim passes away at 82

Prayagraj: Asad Qasim, the city's only athlete fondly known as the ‘Father of All Games', passed away on Friday evening at his residence in the Lukarganj locality of the Sangam city. He was 82.

Born on June 30, 1942, in Rakswara village of Kaushambi district, Qasim was a legendary figure in local sports community. He was known for his extraordinary talent across multiple disciplines, including cricket, athletics, football, hockey, volleyball, basketball, swimming, cross country, and boxing. Towering at 6.2 feet, his presence on the field was both commanding and inspirational. Spectators would chant in his favour whenever he entered the arena, regardless of the sport. His versatility and dominance earned him the title ‘Father of All Games'. In 1970, Asad Qasim joined the Accountant General's Office in Allahabad and served there for 35 years. His contributions to sports and public service were widely respected. The Allahabad Cricket Association (ACA) and the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) expressed deep sorrow over his demis.
