Fake transgender held for kidnapping boy

Kendrapada: Police arrested a fake transgender person in Jajpur district on Sunday on the charges of kidnapping a four-year-old boy from Thakurmunda market in Mayurbhanj district on Thursday. The accused was identified as Lipu Nayak.

The rescued child was handed over to his parents in the presence of Thakurmunda police on Sunday.

"After learning about the kidnapping from police, we swung into action and rescued the boy at Jajpur Road and handed over the child and kidnapper to the police," said Kajal Kinnar, secretary of All Odisha Kinnar Mahasangh.

"Exact reason behind the kidnapping is yet to be ascertained. But the accused said that he took the child as he had lost his mother at the Maa Basuli fair," said IIC of Jajpur Road police station, Upendra Pradhan.
