NEW DELHI: Royal Challengers Bengaluru 's talisman Virat Kohli added another record to his illustrious IPL career on Sunday, becoming the player with the most fifty-plus scores in the tournament’s history.
Kohli’s masterful 73 not out off 54 balls against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur marked his 59th IPL half-century and his 67th score of fifty or more, edging past David Warner’s tally of 66.

Kohli now stands alone atop the all-time list, with 59 fifties and 8 hundreds, compared to Warner’s 62 fifties and 4 centuries.

Chasing a modest target of 158, RCB lost Phil Salt early to Arshdeep Singh. But Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal steadied the ship with a commanding 103-run stand for the second wicket. Padikkal was in blistering form, smashing 61 off just 35 deliveries, including five fours and four sixes.
Kohli played the anchor role to perfection, bringing up his record-breaking fifty in the 15th over before shifting gears. He added a brisk 34-run partnership with skipper Rajat Patidar (12), keeping the chase firmly on track.

Jitesh Sharma finished things off in style, launching a six off Nehal Wadhera in the 19th over as RCB sealed a seven-wicket win with seven balls to spare. The victory pushed RCB to third place in the points table with 10 points from 8 matches.
Earlier, spinners Krunal Pandya (2/25) and Suyash Sharma (2/26) stifled Punjab Kings in the middle overs, restricting them to a below-par 157/6 in their 20 overs.
