Despite the excitement of the split-second catch by Daulton Varsho, the Blue Jays could not recover.

On the losing side, they posted a 13-16 season mark, fourth in the AL East. The Red Sox, with the win, improved to 17-14 and are second with 1.5 games behind the New York Yankees' division lead. The Blue Jays will need to recover in the next two games of this series to keep pace in the division.
