Oklahoma City Thunder’s insider deciphers Memphis Grizzlies star guard Jo Morant’s emotions after an appalling defeat

The Memphis Grizzlies recorded a ‘historic’ loss in their first playoff game against the seed-one Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite leading the team with 17 points, the team’s point guard, Ja Morant, could not save his side from a humiliating defeat. An NBA insider recapped the key moments from the playoff game, highlighting Morant’s submissive body language, which caught his attention as the Thunder tightened up the defense against him. He commented:

“Ja Morant just shook his head when he saw Lu Dort check out, Alex Caruso check in, only for him to be guarded by Cason Wallace.

I'd be pissed too.”

The Memphis Grizzlies just underwent a big overhaul. The team replaced its coach after its defeat in the March 27 game against the Thunder. Further, Ja Morant is not in his best shape and reportedly took pain-killing injections to appear in the Sunday game to cope with an injured ankle. In Game 1, the whole team struggled and scored their season’s lowest 80 points.

Despite the terrible defeat, Ja Morant has not lost hope. At a presser after the game, he said they would not play that badly again.

“We kind of have to take this win, like, they're going to be way better in Game 2 .

Adding further, he said, “We're trying to not give them a lot of life in regards to that. That's a really good team over there, so Game 2 is going to be completely different. We're kind of competing with ourselves in a way to make sure we're sharp for Game 2.

Jalen Williams is quite focused on winning the title this time, which will be their first. The team is young, but it is filled with the talent required to make a strong case for a title contender, according to him.

The Oklahoma City Thunder crushed the Grizzlies in their first playoff game. It was a historic win for them, as they won 131-80, by a whopping 51-point margin, making the Grizzlies the fifth team to record a loss by more than 50 points.
