Congress Friday said the entire country is waiting for Modi govt to "teach Pakistan a lesson and curb terrorism decisively" but it is still to move despite the passage of 10 days since the Pahalgam attack and the opposition's unstinted support to Centre.
It asked the govt to act fast as the country is looking towards it to avenge the victims, even as it also voiced the demand for the home minister's resignation. Punjab MP Charanjit Channi, Bhupesh Baghel and Jairam Ramesh said there have been repeated terror attacks which have "raised questions about govt's competence to keep the country safe."
Interestingly, Channi, apparently alluding to the Balakot bombings, claimed that the action after Pulwama did not happen as nobody saw anything. A meeting of the CWC reiterated the demand for "time-bound accountability into serious lapses in security and intelligence". It asked the govt to act with firmness, and internationally isolate and penalise Pakistan for its export of terror to India. A resolution passed by the CWC, chaired by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, said, "The entire country awaits accountability, answers, and justice."
